Governor Akeredolu Tests Positive for COVID-19


Ondo State Governor, Olurotimi Akeredolu has tested positive for coronavirus.

The governor, who disclosed the result of his COVID-19 status via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, said he is asymptomatic and have been self-isolating.

He tweeted “Today I tested positive for #COVID19.

“All is well. I’m asymptomatic and have been self isolating. Work continues. Your continued prayers over my well being are most appreciated.

The total number of COVID-19 cases Ondo state is 292 as at Tueday, with the state ranking 19th in the national cumulative leaderboard.

Akeredolu will be the fifth serving governor to contract the virus, after Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and Seyi Makinde of Oyo.

The immediate past governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi who contracted the virus late May. He did not survive it.
