The Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, has resigned his appointment in the administration of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
He resigned his appointment in a letter dated July 6 2020 and addressed it to the governor.
The former House of Representatives member, who did not give any reason for his decision, however said his the resignation is personal.
He also wished the governor a quick recovery.
The governor is on self-isolation, receiving treatment for COVID-19.
The letter reads: ”I, Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State, hereby tender my letter of resignation.
”I want to thank Mr. Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve the Government and people of Ondo State.
”Again, my family and I wish Mr. Governor quick recovery.”
Abegunde resignation comes two weeks after the Deputy Governor, Agboola
Ajayi, dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Ondo governorship election is scheduled to hold in October.
Meanwhile, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has appointed Honourable Temitayo Oulwatuyi Tukana as the new Secretary to the State Government.
Akeredolu confirmed the appointment via his official Twitter page, following the resignation of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde.
He wrote; ”Today, I announce the appointment of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi Tukana as the secretary to the state government (SSG) to resume immediately following the resignation of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde”.
