Nigeria: COVID-19 Cases, Deaths Dropped Sharply in One Week
The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria dipped below 4,000 for the second week in a row, data from the Centre for Disease Control showed.
The number of cases recorded in the week under review (July 26 to August 1)declined to 3, 560, compared with 3,870 recorded in the previous week (July 19-25).
That’s an 8 percent decrease.
DEATHS
The death rate also decreased by 65 per cent- twenty (27) persons succumbed to the disease compared with 78 the previous week.
RECOVERIES
The rate of recoveries however increased by 56 percent- from 2, 010 in the previous to 3,139 in the week under review.
SAMPLE TESTED
According to the public health agency data, more 283,916 samples have been tested nationwide.
24,400 of which were conducted last week-That is 51 percent less than the previous week figure of 50,700.
To date, more than 43,537 have been infected with the virus and 883 persons succumbed to the disease in Nigeria.
