Suspected Hoodlums Kill DSS Officer in Gun Battle
Suspected hoodlums reportedly attacked and killed an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS) in a gunfire battle between security operatives and gun runners in Kalong village of Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday night.
The remains of the DSS operative, Muktar Moddibo who hails from Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi state have been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
Dailytiz.com gathered that the incident occurred during a joint operation with the Nigerian Military in Kalong where Moddibo was hit by a bullet during the gun battle.
The Army and DSS were reported to have stormed the village in search of a leader of gun syndicates following a tip-off over the whereabouts of some gun dealers located in the area.
Some gun runners were reportedly arrested with five AK47 by the DSS before the exchange.
The incident is coming amidst the on-going operation by the DSS to track down kidnappers, armed bandits, and gun runners terrorising different parts of Plateau state.
Meanwhile, the ongoing operation by the team of security operatives including the Nigeria Military had led to the arrest of the killers of a University of Jos lecturer, Dr. Joanna Drenkat by a syndicate of kidnappers.
