Truck Carrying Granite rams into Billboard on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway


A heavy duty truck, carrying granite rammed into a billboard at New Garage Bus Stop, Berger Area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.

According to the Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the collision damaged the billboard and made the truck to develop a mechanical fault.

He stated that there was no loss of life, and recovery operations had commenced to ease the heavy traffic caused by the accident.

Oke-Osanyintolu said: “Upon the arrival of the Agency’s officials at the incident scene, it was observed that a trailer conveying granite ran into a billboard at Berger, inward Secretariat, resulting to the damage of the billboard as well as a breakdown of the articulated truck.

“No casualties were recorded. Recovery operations ongoing while traffic has been diverted.”

Sources said the accident occurred when the driver tried to manoeuvre away from some thugs trying to extort him on the expressway.

Transporters and commuters lamented the heavy gridlock caused by the accident from New Garage Bus stop down to Aseese axis on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
